Today I ran into a problem that needed solved. Like many Apple products, if it isn’t built into the machine and OS then you might fight a crappy alternative somewhere else.

The problem that I had was I bought an older Macbook Pro (2010) to take with me to Afghanistan and it doesn’t mirror to my Apple Tv (2010 and earlier are unsupported). Well Dang. This presents an issue for me because I take my Apple Tv with me everywhere and I plug it in for a second monitor constantly. Until I came across Air Parrot, I thought all hope was lost.

Air Parrot is an incredibly simple, and cheap ($9.99) alternative to mirroring with the Mac OS. It’s a light file with built-in sound, mirror-display and the ability to extend your desktop. There is very little delay, and even has the ability to increase frame rate, viewable area on your tv screen, and a lot more cool tweaks.

It’s a simple little app that saves a lot of headache, and I thought it deserved a little love. So thanks Air Parrot for creating a cheap, simple little app that just gets the job done.

Give it a quick look
